K-State women’s basketball head coach Deb Patterson announced on Monday the sixth member of her 2013 recruiting class, 5-9 guard Leticia Romero of Spain. Romero is active in the international game as she helped lead Spain’s under-17 national team to a second place finish at the world championships last summer. She was named to the all-tournament team by leading Spain with 13.3 points and 3.5 assists per game while also pulling in 4.7 rebounds and pocketing 2 steals. Romero will play this summer for the Spanish under-19 national team at the worlds in Lithuania, and at the under-18 European championships.
Romero joins a K-State recruiting class that includes forwards Breanna Lewis (Milwaukee, WI), Jessica Sheble (Olathe, KS) and Erica Young (Tampa, FL) and guards Jai Murphy (Nashville, TN) and Kindred Wesemann (Pleasant Hill, MO).
