A Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper injured earlier this week in the Wichita area is a former Kansas State Football player. While KMAN told you of the injury Wednesday, the name of the trooper has just been released–and he has been identified as DaVon Brame (36). Brame was a line-backer for Kansas State from 1997-2000.
Brame is listed in fair condition Thursday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He had been critical when he was first taken there Tuesday.Brame was injured Tuesday evening while sitting in his vehicle after he pulled over a semi-trailer for an inspection in east Wichita. His car was hit from behind by a pickup truck. The pickup driver suffered minor injuries.The Wichita Eagle reports the pickup driver has been issued at least six speeding tickets in recent years. The driver told authorities he sneezed right before he hit Brame’s car. He was checked for alcohol or drug use and investigators are trying to determine if he was talking on his cell phone before the accident.
