For the second time in three weeks, Manhattan High wrestling claimed a tournament title with a narrow victory at the Husky Invite at Blue Valley Northwest. The Tribe edged out Newton by five points on Saturday in the team standings, after the Railroaders topped MHS at the Tournament of Champions last weekend. Blue Valley Northwest took a distant third. 113-pound Jase Stone, 126-pound Dallas Vesta, and 152-pound Michael Leeper all brought home individual titles in Overland Park. 120-pound Kian Clemens and 145-pound Davis Matthews both were second, and 160-pound Austin Chauncey came in third.
Rock Creek took another big step as a program under third-year coach Dan Pray by claiming the Pott County Duals on Saturday. The Mustangs hosted the event, and won all five duals against St. Marys, Wabaunsee, Burlingame, Hayden, and Riverside. Nine wrestlers for Rock Creek went undefeated on the day, 106-pound Dallas Nold, 113-pound Zack Hart, 120-pound Randall Thomas, 126-pound Marc Reiss, 145-pound Chase Ridder, 160-pound JT Weers, 170-pound Brandon Goehring, 182-pound Justin Ward, and 220-pound Jesse Correll.
