The Manhattan City Commission reviewed the latest from the City’s Water and Wastewater Facilities Plan Update Project, Tuesday evening.
Commissioners also discussed the results of a Risk and Vulnerability Assessment, which calls for emergency power improvements to the City’s water treatment plant.
A new power generator will be installed by next summer as Assistant Project Manager, Garrett Sheehan with Carollo Engineers explained.
“That 2,000 kW generator will run, 60-70 percent of the plant, so we can get by with some reduced usage.”
Going forward, the Commission will be faced with the challenge of financing a potential expansion of the City’s water treatment plant and bio-solid management system.
