MHS Earns Sweep Of Topeka High

The MHS boys won a thriller 31-30 over Topeka High thanks to Jacob Holloway’s game winning shot with two seconds to go. The Trojans missed two free throws to leave the door open for Holloway to drive the length of the floor and win the game. Manhattan was down 30-26 with under two minutes to go when Jonathan Taylor got the late rally started with a three pointer. Neither team led by more than 5 points in the game and it was tied at halftime 13-13. Holloway led the Indians in scoring with nine points and Taylor had seven.

The MHS girls found themselves in a tough battle early into the fourth quarter. The lead changed hands multiple times in the second half before Manhattan finally pulled away for a 51-36 victory with nine straight points from Caroline Ballard. Darby Price was a force on the boards all night long and led MHS with 17 points. Ballard also chipped in with 13 points. The Indians held Topeka High’s leading scorer Mandy Madden to just four points while she battled foul trouble throughout the game.

Both teams are back at it Tuesday night at Topeka West.
