Romero Granted Release

The wait is finally over for Leti Romero. K-State announced Tuesday that she has been granted a release to transfer anywhere outside of the Big 12.

K-State says the transfer comes “as a result of a newly modified institutional policy.” K-State athletics director John Currie was able to get the K-State Athletics Board of Directors to approve a recommendation to retroactively apply the amended policy.

Currie made his recommendation for more flexibility in the appeals process for transfer releases in a letter to President Kirk Schulz. The update gives the athletics director 15 business days after the appeals committee’s decision to begin a process to review more information to determine if the release is justified. If that process begins within 15 days, then the athletics director’s decision is final.

Romero led K-State in scoring, rebounds, assists and steals last season and was denied her transfer request by the appeals committee on April 18th.
