A 1st Infantry Division Soldier died July 30 at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina.
A news release from Fort Riley Tuesday indicates Pfc. Luis Ortiz, a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter repairer with Company D, 3rd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Inf. Div., lost consciousness while running June 27 in Junction City, Kansas, and was subsequently hospitalized.
Ortiz joined the Army in June 2015 and arrived at Fort Riley in January. He was 24 years old.
His awards include the National Defense Service Medal. He had not deployed.
