Unemployment numbers are down in the Manhattan area, according to figures just released by the Kansas Department of Labor. The Manhattan metro area which includes Riley and Pottawatomie Counties is listed as 3.5%, down from 3.9 the month before and last year’s numbers of 4.4. The Manhattan metro numbers with Junction City show 4.1% in February, also down from the month before and last year.
The city of Manhattan with just Riley County has a 3.1% number, with Junction City’s at 5.9% in February of this year.
Surrounding counties were also down, including Riley County at 3.4%, Pottawatomie County at 3.9 , Clay County at 4.6%,and Geary County, which tends to be higher, still down from previous numbers at 6.3%.
