The Wamego City Commission approves the Columbian Theatre maintenance agreement. At Tuesday’s meeting, City Manager Merl Page reviewed the presentation from the last meeting where he asked Architect Bruce McMillan for a cost estimate if the work was done in phases. McMillan brought the numbers back, and they reflected a 11 ½ per cent increase to perform the required maintenance in phases. Page added that the increase does not include the cost of additional contractual services. After a brief discussion, and evaluating the numbers, Commissioner Bob Morse made the motion authorizing McMillan to seek bid proposals to do the work at one time. The motion carried by a vote of 5 to 0.
In other business, the Commission approved the Sidewalk Master plan after the Planning Commission amended and corrected the original plan, based on the input from the public. Page pointed out that adopting the plan does not approve a funding mechanism.
Also, Page reported receiving a dividend check from the Kansas Municipal Insurance Groups carrier in the amount of $19,914.81, which was their portion of a group dividend totaling over 3 point 1 million dollars.
