The budget for the City of Manhattan has seen a lot of debate at City Commission meetings, but at Tuesday night’s meeting, the discussion was fairly quick and agreeable, as the 2012 budget passed unanimously.

Budget officer Emily Campbell reminded commissioners the general fund was slated to decrease by about $77, 000, while the employee benefit fund will increase by $66,000 . The mill levy will be upped by an average of .221 mills, as the city’s portion will decrease .254 mills. The outside services mill levy will see an increase for 2012 of .475 mills. The total city budget tops out at over $113 million.

Commissioners also took a look at the agreement between the City and Local 2275 of the International Association of Firefighters. The contract was up for renewal and City Manager Ron Fehr informed KMAN a few changes were made to the cost of living pay and  also the STEP wage increase program. The new, three year agreement received a unanimous passage.
