Pompeo seeks re-election, governor endorses him

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback is endorsing the re-election bid of U.S. Rep. Mike Pompeo for the state’s 4th Congressional District.

Pompeo told reporters Tuesday he is seeking re-election. His announcement comes at a time polls are showing congressional approval ratings at historically low levels.

Pompeo took office in January. He said he has done what he told Kansas voters he would do. He said he has worked so the government spends as little money as it possibly can and has worked to beat back government regulation.

The Republican congressman says when people talk about liberty, freedom and small government the things people who call themselves Tea Partiers talk about that is who he is.

Brownback says Pompeo has done a fantastic job as a first-year congressman.
