Final Riley County/Manhattan Health Board meeting

By KMAN Staff on December 7, 2011 Local News, The Blog

It was a big day for the Riley County Manhattan Health Department, with the final board meeting of the jointly-run group. The department will now move to the Riley County Commission’s jurisdiction, with an advisory board.  Health board Chair Brady Burton says current board members were invited to stay on the advisory board to the Riley County commission.

Meanwhile, it was also the last board meeting for Administrator Chuck Murphy, who is retiring after 32 years. Murphy told KMAN news change is always difficult but change also brings opportunity. He compares it to letting a daughter get married, who you’ve raised from a very early age.

A reception is being held to recognize Murphy next Wednesday (the 14th) at four at the health department. The public is invited.
