The Kansas State Wildcats Men’s Basketball team overcame an early second half slump and finally put away the Miners of UTEP 78-70 on Friday in the Semifinals of the Diamondhead Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii.

After K-State led 47-32 at intermission, UTEP used a 27-11 run to grab a 59-58 lead before K-State scored to regain the advantage.   However, Angel Rodriguez touched off a  14-1 run with a three-point basket which allowed the Wildcats to advance to Sunday’s final.  Rodriguez was K-State’s leading scorer with 16 points, leading three Wildcats in double figures as Will Spradling added 11 points and Jamar Samuels chipped in with 10.

K-State will face Long Beach State in the title game Sunday evening.  The 49ers blew away Auburn 64-43 in Friday’s other semifinal.  You can hear all the action from the Championship game of the Diamondhead Classic on Sportsradio 1350 KMAN beginning with the pre-game show at 7:45 p.m.
