Rodney McGruder scored a career-high 28 points and Will Spradling tied a career high with 17 of his own as the Kansas State Wildcats Men’s Basketball team jumped out to a double-digit first half lead they would never relinquish as they downed the 49ers of Long Beach State 77-60 in the Championship Game of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamondhead Classic Sunday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Jamar Samuels was the third Wildcat in double figures with 11 points and he joined McGruder on the Classic’s All-Tournament team.  McGruder was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

With the victory, K-State improves to 10-1 on the season and will next be in action on New Year’s Eve afternoon when they return to Bramlage Coliseum to face Howard University in a 1 p.m. tipoff.
