Robert Griffin III became the first Football player from Baylor University to win the Heisman Trophy when the award was announced Saturday Night at the Downtown Athletic Club in New York City.
Griffin, who led Baylor to its best regular season in 25 years received 405 first place votes and a total of 1,687 points beating out Stanford Quarterback Andrew Luck who received 1,407 points and became the fourth player in history to finish as a runner-up in the voting in consecutive seasons, he is the first since Darren McFadden of Arkansas in 2006 and 2007.
Finishing third was Alabama Running Back Trent Richardson followed by Wisconsin Running Back Montee Ball and rounding out the top five was LSU Cornerback Tyrann Mathieu.
