For the second time in 11 days, the Kansas State Women’s Basketball team defeated a Top 10 team and in process stayed unbeaten in Big 12 play.

Jalana Childs scored 23 points including the game-winning free throws and the Wildcats withstood three chances by Texas Tech for the winning basket in the final 20 seconds as K-State knocked off the 10th-ranked Red Raiders 62-61 Saturday afternoon at United Spirit Arena.  K-State, after falling behind 7-2 out of the gate outscored Tech 35-20 to take a 37-27 lead into the locker room at intermission.  However, Texas Tech stormed out in the second half and overtook the Wildcats leading by as much as five points in the second half.    Tech led 61-57 with 3:20 left in the contest but the Wildcats scored the game’s final five points in a span of 1:37 and then hung on for the win.

It’s the first time in 10 years that K-State has downed two Top 10 teams in the same season and the first win over a team ranked in the Top 10 on the road since a victory at #4 Iowa State in 2002.  K-State downed defending National Champion and then 8th-ranked Texas A&M 71-69 in overtime in Manhattan on January 4.

K-State (13-3, 4-0) will host Oklahoma at Bramlage Coliseum on Tuesday night in their action.  Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
