WICHITA, Kan. (AP)   Former K-State quarterback Michael Bishop and hoops legend Willie Murrell are among the nine members of the 2012 class of the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame.

Bishop was the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy in 1998, setting several school records along the way.  He was 22-3 as a starter at K-State, and passed and ran for 59 total touchdowns in his two seasons.

Murrell was a first team all-American and led the Wildcats to the 1964 Final Four.  He averaged 20.6 points and 10.7 rebounds over the course of his career in purple.

Kurt Budke, the Oklahoma State women’s basketball coach who died in a plane crash last year, will be inducted posthumously during the ceremony Oct. 7 in Wichita.  Budke is originally from Salina, and played basketball at Washburn.

Other members of the class include former Kansas quarterback David Jaynes and basketball players Wayne Simien and Bud Stallworth; longtime tennis coach David Snyder and softball player Brenda Stolle.
