With a 16-6 run early in the second half, Kansas State opened its 2012-13 road schedule with a 62-47 win over Tennessee State on Tuesday night. The Wildcats, who improved to 3-0 for the seventh time in the last nine seasons, were led by sophomore guard Haley Texada, who poured in a career-high off the bench.

Texada pulled the Wildcats out of a sluggish start to the second half by scoring nine straight points and finish with a career-high 17. The product of Frisco, Texas, registered 14 of her points in the second half to spark K-State.

Joining Texada in double figures was senior guard Brittany Chambers with 14 points. The All-America candidate hauled in nine rebounds and dished out four assists on Tuesday night. Chambers now ranks 14th in school history for career rebounds with 605 and ranks 16th in the program’s history with 252 career assists.

Kansas State will conclude its two-game road trip on Saturday, as the Wildcats face Charlotte at 6 p.m.
