After a frustrating stretch that saw them lose three games in five days, the Kansas State Women’s Basketball team took out their frustrations on the host team at the World Vision Classic with an 80-54 victory over Nevada-Las Vegas Friday evening at the Cox Pavillion.
K-State had begun the season 7-0 before a stunning two-point loss at home on Sunday to Texas-El Paso followed by losses in the first two games of the World Vision Classic to nationally-ranked Texas A&M and Notre Dame. However, the Wildcats got back on track in Friday’s game thanks to a strong first half which saw them sprint to a 33-16 halftime lead over UNLV and never look back.
Senior Brittany Chambers put her leadership on display by leading the Wildcats with 28 points while Freshman Brianna Craig turned in an impressive outing with 15 points.
Kansas State (8-3) now will take a few days off for Christmas break before returning to the hardwood on Saturday, December 29 when they travel back out west to face the University of California at Santa Barbara in a 4 p.m. CST Tipoff. K-State opens Big 12 play on January 2nd at Kansas.
