A Manhattan man has been sentenced to almost six years for attempted murder in the second degree.
Tyrell Brown, 27, was sentenced to 59 months with the Kansas Department corrections Friday morning in Riley County District Court.
Brown entered a no contest plea in October to the charge. The incident occurred January 15th of this year, when Brown got into a struggle with a handgun in his possession, and during the struggle Marcus Cooper, 51, was shot in the arm. Cooper later recovered.
The case was described as unusual, with Cooper having given Brown a ride to church earlier in the day. Brown was reported as demonstrating bizarre behavior at church and was asked to leave, with the incident occurring on the drive back to Brown’s home near the intersection of North Manhattan Avenue and Flint Hills Place.
