MHS Girls’ Streak Snapped Against Rural

    0
By KMAN Staff on January 16, 2013 High School Sports, Manhattan High School

The Manhattan High girls fought and scrapped all night with Washburn Rural but never could get over the hump in a 44-34 loss in Topeka.   MHS didn’t trail by more than ten points until late in the fourth quarter, but didn’t have a lead outside of the first frame.  Erika Lane led all scorers with 21 for the Junior Blues and racked up 18 of those in the first half.  Elayna Spilker was the only Indian in double figures with ten points.  Spilker scored all ten of her points in the first half and was limited in the second half with a foot injury.

Manhattan High (7-2, 3-2) will host Emporia on Friday night at 7:30pm.  The Indians held on to the beat the Spartans 36-33 in Emporia on December 14th.  SportsRadio 1350 KMAN will bring you the broadcast; either in progress after the boys’ game in the McPherson Invitational semifinals, or in its entirety if the boys play earlier in the day.
