    Update on Fatal Car/Pedestrian Accident

    Riley County Police have provided an update regarding a January fifth fatal car/pedestrian accident  on Anderson Avenue west of Manhattan.  Carl Schurle, 72, of Manhattan died in thet crash, when struck by a car driven by Jacob Brazzle, 18,  also of Manhattan.

    Riley County Police said Thursday Schurle was known to walk to Manhattan on the road, and numerous calls were reported about near misses concerning Schurle and vehicles on the road.

    And according to police the driver struck Schurle and then went back to investigate. The driver did not have a cell phone, and so ran to a nearby residence to call 911. The driver then returned to the scene to await police. Schurle hit the right front of the vehicle, and windshield.
