A new military unit is activating in the Manhattan area. On Sunday the Kansas National Guard is gaining a new brigade operating out of the National Guard armory on 721 Levee Boulevard. The 130th Field Artillery is standing up with over 400 Kansas National Guard members to begin missions providing command and control to subordinate artillery units.
The unit will be under the command of Colonel John W. Rueger .
