After being named the first head coach of the Kansas State Women’s Soccer program on December 26, Mike Dibbini got to meet the media and the public for the first time on Wednesday.

In a press conference held at the K-State Alumni Center, Dibbini who coached at Kansas Wesleyan and Cal Poly-Pomona was presented with his new Purple blazer by Athletics Director John Currie and then addressed the media for the first time and fielded questions.

Historic Memorial Stadium provided the backdrop at the press conference. The facility which housed K-State Football from 1922-67 is a possibility as a home field for the Soccer Cats but Currie says that the stadium’s constant use for intramurals and by the Wildcat Marching band could potentially force the team to play elsewhere. They certainly won’t be practicing there as it appears they will share at least part of the practice fields used by the Football team south of Tointon Family Stadium.

Kansas State becomes the last school in the Big 12 to add Women’s Soccer and the team will begin play in the Fall of 2016.
