The Manhattan High girls basketball team took care of business on Thursday night in the first round of the Mid America Classic against Valley Center, beating the Hornets 57-37.

Manhattan had 11 players score in the ball game with no Indian scoring in double figures. Amara Ehie led the way for MHS with nine points. Gigi McAtee and Madison Mittie each pitched in with eight apiece.

Manhattan shot 46% from the field and hit 12 of 18 from the free throw line. The win over the Hornets gave head coach Scott Mall win number 299 in his career with the school. He will go for 300 on Friday night as the Tribe match up against Olathe South in one of the two semi final match ups.

Olathe South defeated MHS last season in the third place game at the 6A tournament in Wichita finishing the Indians season. The Falcons defeated Hays in their first round match up 76-27.

MHS and Olathe South will tip off at 6:00 from the Roundhouse in McPherson. Coverage on KMAN will start at 5:45.
