The Manhattan High girls and boys basketball teams each took a step closer to a Centennial League crown on Tuesday night at the MHS gym with a clean sweep of the Trojans.
It was a wire to wire win for the MHS girls as they roll to a 51-31 victory. Manhattan (14-3, 8-2) was led by Caroline Ballard who dropped in a game high 19 points. Amara Ehie was the other player in double figures for MHS with 14 points. They held Adrianna Henderson (22 ppg) to just eight points in the game, all in the first half.
The MHS girls remain tied atop the Centennial league standings with Shawnee Heights.
The Manhattan High boys basketball team surged in the second half to a 58-46 win over Topeka High. The Tribe outscored the Trojans 41-25 in the second half and was led in scoring by Robbie Ostermann, who put in a career high 17 points, all in the second half including 14 in the third quarter on 5 of 5 from the field.
Shawnee Heights fell to Highland Park so Manhattan (15-2, 9-1) is all alone in first place atop the Centennial League standings with just three games remaining.
Manhattan is on the road at Hayden on Friday night.
