Open House Regarding Intersections

City Park intersection -4-15

An open house on April 29 will address proposed transportation safety improvements in the vicinity of City Park.

The City of Manhattan is proposing the installation of a traffic signal and turn lanes at the intersection of 11th and Fremont streets at the northeast corner of City Park. Accident volume and traffic count at the intersection are the primary motivators for the improvements, which would also enhance access to City Park and adjoining neighborhoods. These improvements would be partially funded through the Community Development Block Grant program.

Additional projects to be discussed during the open house include pedestrian crossing improvements on Fremont Street at the North Manhattan Avenue and 14th Street intersections. These would include shortening the distance pedestrians have to cross against traffic.

The open house will be from 5 to 7 p.m. April 29 in the Commission Room at City Hall, 1101 Poyntz Ave. Everyone is invited to discuss the designs for the proposed improvements.
