RCPDThe Riley County Police Department is proud to announce the recipients of the 2016 annual RCPD Scholarship Award. Bailey London, the daughter of Sgt. Brian London, was awarded this $500.00 scholarship in May of this year after a selection process conducted throughout the spring. She will be attending Kansas University in the fall. Also receiving this scholarship is Carter Nelson, the son of former Captain Hank Nelson. Carter will be attending school in the fall to pursue a career in computer information sciences.

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be the dependent son or daughter of a full-time or retired RCPD employee and accepted or currently enrolled as a full-time student at the undergraduate or graduate level. This scholarship is made possible by the donations of RCPD employees, the Riley County Police Department Employee Fund, as well as donations from the general public. RCPD is proud to have the ability to assist scholarship recipients with a portion of what it may cost them to attend an institution of higher learning.

“On behalf of the Riley County Police Department I want to congratulate these two and wish them the best of luck as they pursue higher education and their future careers.” – Director Brad Schoen.

The Riley County Police Department Scholarship Fund is a component fund of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation and was established by RCPD to recognize outstanding students who are children of RCPD employees. Members of the public who would like to donate to the RCPD Scholarship Fund may do so by submitting donations in check form to the “RCPD Scholarship Fund.” Donations may be sent to the fund care of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation, 555 Poyntz Avenue, Suite 269, PO Box 1127, Manhattan, KS 66505-1127.
