The Royals locked up home field advantage for their 3rd straight trip to the World Series. The American League beat the National League 4-2 at the 87th All-Star game at Petco Park in San Diego last night.

Both Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez, who started for the AL, hit home runs off of former Royal and NL starter Johnny Cueto in the 2nd inning. Cueto is now with the San Francisco Giants. Hosmer’s was solo and Salvy’s was a two-run shot.

Hosmer then singled in the 3rd inning. The Royals drove in all four runs for the American League. Hosmer finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBI’s. Salvy fininshed 1-for-2 with 2 RBI’s. Hosmer was the MVP of the All-Star game.

Kelvin Herrera pitched the 6th and had a 1-2-3 8 pitch inning with one strikeout.

Hoz, Salvy, Moose and others now head to L.A. for tonight’s ESPYs. The Royals are up for best team and Ned Yost is up for best coach/manager. The

ESPY’s are tonight at 7 on ABC and hosted by John Cena.
