From K-State

K-State’s Ayoka Lee had another stellar week, as she collected her eighth Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor in an announcement by the league office on Monday.

Lee is just the second player in league history to earn eight or more Big 12 Freshman or Newcomer of the Week honors in a season, trailing Courtney Paris from Oklahoma who tallied nine in the 2005-06 season.

Last week, Lee registered a pair of double-doubles and averaged 14.0 points on a .522 field goal percentage, 12.0 rebounds, 5.0 blocks, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals. The center from Byron, Minnesota, has registered three straight double-doubles with all three including five or more blocks. She tied her career-high for assists in both games.

At Kansas, Lee tallied 17 points on 8-of-15 shooting with 12 rebounds, five blocks, two assists and two steals. This marked her second straight game with a double-double, five or more blocks and two or more steals.

At TCU, Lee notched 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting, 12 rebounds, five blocks and two assists. Lee has six games this season with five or more blocks, which is tied for third in program history for career five-block games.

For the season, Lee has set the school record for career games with a double-double and five or more blocks in a game as she has reached these marks five times. She owns 11 double-doubles this season, which is one double-double from tying the school freshman record of 12 set by Kendra Wecker in the 2001-02 season.

Lee leads all Big 12 freshmen in scoring (15.3 ppg), field goal percentage (.569), rebounds (11.0), blocks (2.9 bpg), offensive rebounds (4.3 orpg) and defensive rebounds (6.7 drpg).

Lee is the second freshman in program history with 275 or more points, 200 or more rebounds and 50 or more blocks.
