By Brandon Peoples on February 20, 2020 Local News, Riley County
A boil water advisory has been issued for FRUSI Water Treatment Plant FKA Fort Riley, located in Geary County. The affected areas include:
    • Residents of the Warner Peterson and Ellis Heights on-post housing neighborhood
    • 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team barracks complexes 7001, 7002, 7003, 7081, 7844, 7848, 7878, 7888, 8038, 8040, and 8042
    • Offices and facilities in the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team footprint, including but not limited to 1ABCT HQ, Devil Den dining facility, Craig Gym, SpareTime Interactive Entertainment, Army Community Service Annex, Kapun Chapel, Battalion Headquarters, Motor Pools, Company Operation Facilities, Dental Clinic 4, USO, Burger King, 24 Hour Shopette, PX, Warren East Child Development Center, and Eyster Pool
    • The Adventure Park, Fire Station 1, Post Office, Shopette, Banks, Library, Telephone Exchange, Jefferson Elementary School, Fort Riley Middle School, and  Morris Hill Elementary
The advisory was issued Thursday afternoon because of a loss of pressure due to a main break.
    • If your tap water appears dirty, flush the water lines by letting the water run until it clears.
    • Boil water for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation or use bottled water.
    • Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker.
    • Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
    • Water used for bathing does not generally need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing so that water is not ingested. Persons with cuts or severe rashes may wish to consult their physicians.
A separate boil water advisory continues for the Riverchase Mobile Home Park, north of Manhattan in Riley County. It was issued Wednesday after a loss of pressure due to line repair.
Both advisories remain in effect until further notice. KDHE can only rescind an order following testing at a certified laboratory.

    Wednesday 1:30 p.m.

Residents of the Riverchase Mobile Home Park north of Manhattan are in a boil water advisory until further notice.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) issued the advisory Wednesday afternoon because of a loss of pressure due to line repair. Failure to maintain adequate pressure may result in a loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination.

KDHE says customers should observe the following precautions while the advisory is in place.

Only KDHE can issue the rescind order following testing at a certified laboratory. Consumer questions can be submitted by calling 785-296-5514 or on the KDHE Public Water System Consumer Information webpage at kdheks.gov
