The USD 383 school board has hired a new principal for Northview Elementary.

Dr. Nick Goos was announced Wednesday as the new principal who will replace the retiring Dr. Cleion Morton. He currently serves as principal of Voy Spears Jr. Elementary School in Blue Springs, Missouri, where he’s been for the past two years. He also served as principal for another school in that district for 10 years. He expressed gratitude to the district in a statement Wednesday.

“I am excited for the opportunity to join the Manhattan Ogden School District,” he said. “I would like to thank Dr. Wade and the Manhattan team for choosing me to be the principal at Northview Elementary. I look forward to working with the parents and staff of Northview Elementary to do everything that we can to help all of our students learn.”

Superintendent Dr. Marvin Wade says Dr. Goos will serve the elementary school well.

“Dr. Goos has extensive administrative experience and a record of success that will undoubtedly benefit Northview and our entire community,” Wade said.

Dr. Goos obtained a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education from Central Missouri State University and a Doctorate degree from the University of Missouri.

He’ll begin with the district on July 22.
