Six new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Riley County Wednesday and one new case was added in Pottawatomie County.
Additionally, 17 people were added to the recovered list in Riley County. Pottawatomie County recoveries were unchanged. That brings the active case count to 115 in Riley County and just four in Pottawatomie County. Currently, Ascension Via Christi is monitoring two positive patients, one of whom is on a ventilator. Both are said to be Riley County patients.
All told, the two counties have combined for just north of 600 cases since March. A majority of those tested during the past four months in the two counties (80 percent) have made recoveries. Five deaths have also been reported, all in Riley County, while 395 deaths have been linked to COVID-19 statewide, according to data from KDHE.
KDHE also announced Wednesday that Florida had been removed from its travel restriction list, meaning Kansans can now travel to any state without the need to quarantine upon return.
The state added 817 new active cases Wednesday. Overall since March, the state has tallied 32,547 COVID-19 cases and tested 334,563 people. The virus has led to 1,975 total hospitalizations statewide.
