From K-State Athletics

K-State needed a fourth quarter rally on Tuesday afternoon at Bramlage Coliseum, but the Wildcats weren’t able to overcome a chilly 11-minute scoreless span as Idaho State secured a 65-50 win.

Christianna Carr paced K-State (2-2) with a game-high 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting, including 5-of-10 from beyond the arc. The 24 points tied her career-high and were the most by a Wildcat this season. Her five 3-point field goals also tied a career-high, a mark she has hit three times.

Carr scored eight points in the first quarter, including a layup with 2:23 remaining in the opening quarter to give the Wildcats a 15-14 lead. A pair of free throws from Ashley Ray put K-State in front 17-14 at the end of the first quarter. K-State held Idaho State scoreless for the final 3:26 of the quarter.

Carr knocked down her third 3-pointer of the afternoon with 5:35 remaining in the second quarter to give K-State a 24-20 lead. A layup from Idaho State at 5:15 completed the scoring in the second frame as the both teams went scoreless for the final 5:14. The Wildcats registered three blocks during the stretch with two from Emilee Ebert.

Idaho State (2-1) broke the scoring drought for both teams, scoring the first five points of the third quarter to pull in front 27-24, with 7:59 remaining in the quarter. The Bengals would use a 16-0 run to open the third quarter to hold a 38-24 lead with 5:05 to play.

K-State would end an 11-minute scoring drought, as Carr completed an old fashioned 3-point play with 4:12 remaining in the third quarter to bring K-State to with 11 points, 38-27.

After going 0-of-8 from beyond the arc in the first half, the Bengals were 7-of-9 from deep on their way to outscoring K-State in the third quarter, 29-8, to take a 51-32 lead into the fourth quarter.

Carr knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, then finished a layup followed by a Sydney Goodson steal and layup, as the Wildcats used a 10-0 run to pull within nine, 51-42, with 6:16 remaining in the fourth quarter.

An old-fashioned three-point play from freshman Taylor Lauterbach brought the Wildcats within seven, 52-45, with 5:20 to play. Lauterbach finished the afternoon with four points, a career-high 16 rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

Idaho State would increase its lead back to 15, 60-45, on the back of an 8-0 run over a four-minute stretch to seal the win.

For the afternoon, K-State shot 30.0 percent (18-of-60) from the field including 20.0 percent (6-of-30) from 3-point range. Idaho State shot 40.3 percent (25-of-62) from the floor including 41.7 percent (10-of-24) from beyond the arc.
