A new executive director has been announced for the Wonder Workshop Children’s Museum.

Suzanne Reese will assume the position, vacated by the death of the late Richard Pitts, who helped create the Wonder Workshop in 1995. Pitts’ widow Cindy has served as interim director since her husband’s death in March.

Reese has served on the museum’s board for the past six years and has spent most of her career in the human services field. Her experience includes work with youth and families in the foster care system.

In a news release Tuesday, Reese called Richard the “heart and soul of the Wonder Workshop” and says her goal is “to honor his vision and expand upon the foundation he built.”

The Wonder Workshop was closed from March to November. It reopened on a limited capacity and is currently open on weekends by reservation and will soon add Wednesday mornings to its schedule from 9 a.m. to noon beginning Jan. 13.
