Kansas Department of Transportation officials are starting work Tuesday on a $1.9 million bridge replacement project along eastbound Hwy 24 over Blackjack Creek, near St. George.
The project, slated for completion in early 2022, will see median crossovers built over the first three to four weeks, a one lane reduction of traffic in both directions with a speed reduction to 50 mph. Existing median crossovers at Blue Run Road, Blackjack Road and between Deer Haven Lane and Franklin Drive will all be closed. On the north side of the highway, no left turns will be allowed for traffic to or from Blue Run, Blackjack and Deer Haven Lane. On the south side, the intersections at Blackjack and at Franklin will be closed.
The bridge replacement will start in phase 2 after the median crossovers are constructed.
Motorists should expect delays and may want to find an alternative route.
