Just four new coronavirus cases were identified over the weekend in Riley County.

In addition, 57 people were added to the COVID recovery list Monday. Ascension Via Christi continues to care for one positive patient, but no patients are currently in the Intensive Care Unit. Local Health Officer Julie Gibbs told county commissioners Monday there are 64 active cases throughout the county.

“Our percent positive stayed steady at about 2 percent the week before last, the same as it was the week prior. However, I’m happy to say we’ve been below 5 percent for the past month, so that’s good news,” she said.

Gibbs also gave detailed numbers on vaccine distribution.

“We have administered 5,559 first doses, with 3,566 of those fully vaccinated. We will have clinics this week, Wednesday through Friday,” she said.

More details on those clinics will be provided by the health department through its social media channels.

Free COVID-19 testing continues to take place through WellHealth, now at the county’s alternate care site at the former Holiday Inn off of Tuttle Creek Blvd.

“They are currently administering about 50 tests per day. That number has actually stayed pretty consistent this past month. They will be available Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through March 20.

Mobile testing through RadxUP will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the baseball fields in Leonardville and nurses will be offering vaccines that day on an invite-only basis to Leonardville residents who meet the criteria for Phase 1-2.
