Tuesday’s edition of In Focus featured guests from the government of the City of Manhattan.

Manhattan City Manager Ron Fehr and City Commissioner Mark Hatesohl joined the program for the hour to discuss city affairs and preview the evening’s city government meeting. This week marks the first meeting to be held at 6 p.m. after a recent change to governing body procedures approved by the Commission.

Fehr and Hatesohl in the first half of the show discussed progress on delayed clean-up efforts following June storms that caused significant tree — as well as structure — damage in the region as well as a recent KS Supreme Court decision on the topic of the ‘dark store theory’ and how that impacts local taxes.

The latter half of the program focused on construction in Aggieville and on Kimball Ave. Things flowed into budget discussions on the agenda tonight as well as items on the consent agenda. The Commission will consider a resolution indicating the city government’s intent to exceed the revenue neutral rate in 2023.
