No injuries were reported after a tractor caught fire Tuesday afternoon near Leonardville.

Volunteer crews with Riley County Fire District No. 1 were dispatched around 1:30 p.m. to a rural area near Fairview Church and Walnut Creek Roads. Upon arrival, they found a John Deere silage chopper tractor fully engulfed in flames.

Seven volunteer firefighters on three apparatuses extinguished the fire with an hour and crews managed to keep it from spreading to nearby fields.

A damage estimate wasn’t immediately available, but the tractor was a total loss.
