Thursday’s edition of In Focus featured guests from Riley County Emergency Management and Riverfront MHK.

The first half of the program welcomed Riley County Emergency Management Coordinator Laurie Harrison and Emergency Management Director Russel Stukey as well as County PIO Vivienne Uccello. They discussed policy and decision making behind activation of local outdoor emergency sirens in light of their activation during a September 17 storm as well as the importance of emergency preparedness.

The second half, Phil Anderson of Riverfront MHK was in studio to discuss the organization’s private fundraising efforts to create a master plan for potential development of the Kansas River riverfront. He highlighted the impetus of the project, some of his efforts over the years, and how he thinks the projects included in the plan could benefit the region.
