Officials have confirmed that the new bivalent doses of the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines arrived Tuesday at the Riley County Health Department.
They will be available to the public starting Thursday. Individuals 18 and older are eligible for a single booster of the Moderna bivalent, if it’s been at least two months since completion of the primary vaccination or the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent vaccine has been received.
Individuals 12 and older are eligible for a single booster of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine bivalent, if two months have passed since competing the primary vaccination or they’ve received the most recent booster dose.
The health department also announced 76 new COVID-19 cases were recorded last week. Riley County continues to be in the HIGH incidence category, with an incidence rate at 102.4. Just two people were hospitalized Wednesday with COVID-19, however neither were being treated in the intensive care unit.
The health department recently began offering in-person COVID-19 tests by appointment. No walk-ins will be accepted. The health department can be reached at 785-776-4779, extension 7675. Appointments can be scheduled as little as two hours in advance and as long as five days in advance.
