Wildcats in the NFL – Week 2

MANHATTAN, Kan. (Kansas State Athletics) – Each week throughout the 2022 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 14 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.

Timmy Horne, DL – Atlanta Falcons
Horne, a rookie free agent who made the active roster out of training camp, was in for 19 defensive snaps and five special teams plays in Atlanta’s narrow 31-27 defeat at the Los Angeles Rams. Atlanta will look for its first win of the year when it travels to take on Seattle on Sunday.

Elijah Lee, LB – Kansas City Chiefs
Lee, who signed with his hometown Kansas City Chiefs in the offseason, made a pair of tackles on punt coverage among his 27 special teams plays to help Kansas City earn a 27-24 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night. The Chiefs improved to 2-0, and they travel to face Indianapolis on Sunday.

Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett, who made his 89th-career start, hauled in nine passes for 107 yards in Seattle’s 27-7 loss at San Francisco. It was the 15th 100-yard game in his career. The Seahawks dropped to 1-1 on the year, and they host Atlanta on Sunday.

Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Commanders
In his eighth season, Lucas was in for one offensive snap as a tackle eligible and two special teams plays in Washington’s 36-27 loss at Detroit. The Commanders are now 1-1 this year, and they host Philadelphia on Sunday.

AJ Parker, DB – Detroit Lions
In his second season in the NFL, Parker is on Detroit’s practice squad. The Lions picked up a 36-27 home win over Washington on Sunday to improve to 1-1, and they travel to take on Minnesota on Sunday.

Byron Pringle, WR – Chicago Bears
Pringle, who is in his first season in Chicago, saw time on 14 offensive snaps and six special teams plays in the Bears’ 27-10 loss at Green Bay on Sunday night. Now 1-1 on the year, Chicago hosts Houston on Sunday.

D.J. Reed, DB – New York Jets
In his fifth NFL season and first with the Jets, Reed made his 26th-career start and came away with five tackles to help New York pick up a 31-30 comeback victory at Cleveland. Now 1-1 on the year, the Jets host Cincinnati on Sunday.

Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
Risner made his 49th-career start and was in for all 72 offensive snaps in Denver’s 16-9 home-opening victory over Houston. Risner has seen time on 2,953 of the Broncos’ 3,394 offensive snaps (87.0%) since he began his career in 2019. The 1-1 Broncos host San Francisco on Sunday night.

Duke Shelley, DB – Minnesota Vikings
Elevated from the practice squad for the game, Shelley was in for three special teams plays in Minnesota’s 24-7 loss at Philadelphia on Monday night. The Vikings fell to 1-1 on the year, and they host Detroit on Sunday.

Kiondre Thomas, CB – Green Bay Packers
Thomas is on Green Bay’s practice squad. The Packers earned a 27-10 win over Chicago to improve to 1-1 on the year, and they travel to face Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Skylar Thompson, QB – Miami Dolphins
Thompson, a seventh-round draft choice who made the active roster, was inactive for Miami’s 42-38 comeback victory at Baltimore. The Dolphins improved to 2-0, and they host Buffalo on Sunday.

Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair made his 97th-career start and was in for all 41 offensive snaps in Chicago’s 27-10 loss at Green Bay on Sunday night. He has seen time on 6,232 of Chicago’s 6,280 offensive plays (99.2%) since he entered the league in 2016.

Jordan Willis, DL – San Francisco 49ers
In his sixth NFL season, Willis was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday prior to the 49ers’ 27-7 home win over Seattle. Now 1-1 on the year, San Francisco travels to face Denver on Sunday night.

Russ Yeast, S – Los Angeles Rams
A seventh-round selection in this year’s draft, Yeast was inactive for the Rams’ 31-27 home win over Atlanta. The Rams, now 1-1 this year, travel to take on Arizona on Sunday.
