The top seed in the 6A West bracket, the Manhattan High Indians, open the post-season tonight facing a team they blew out last season in the opening round. The Tribe opens with winless Wichita North, a squad who fell 64-6 to them in this round in 2021. Manhattan goes into the playoffs with an 8-0 record for the fourth time under coach Joe Schartz. Friday’s game kicks off at seven on Newsradio KMAN.

Wamego holds down the top seed on the 4A West bracket and will open with 1-7 Ulysses. The Tigers will make a 325 mile trek for the game having dropped their last seven after a season opening win against Colby. The Red Raiders finished the regular season unbeaten for the first time since 1977.  The kickoff will be at seven on B104.7 as our Carpet One of Manhattan Game of the Week.

Rock Creek will ride a seven game winning streak into the 3A playoffs and host Clearwater in the opener. The Mustangs are one of nine teams with one loss or fewer as the 3A playoffs begin.

In 2A, Riley County will play at Silver Lake after opening the season at home against the Eagles. Silver Lake won that matchup 28-21.

Blue Valley Randolph finishes the season tonight with a non-playoff contest at Wakefield.

In Eight-Man II, Frankfort opened last night against Beloit-St. John’s/Tipton in Beloit and extended its season with a 48-28 win.
