A Junction City soldier who had been reported as missing by family members out of state has been found incarcerated in Georgia.
The family of 24-year-old Roberto Junior Familia had reached out to several Kansas media outlets concerned for his safety after not hearing from him for about a week and struggling to file a missing person report with the Junction City Police Department, which requires such reports to be filed in-person.
His family resides in Florida, New York and Puerto Rico and they noted his mother, who lives in Florida, was planning to make the 21-hour drive to Junction City to make a report. Familia, an inactive National Guard soldier suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, according to a family spokesperson.
JCPD noted on Monday that after running Familia’s plates, his vehicle was located in Georgia and he was located incarcerated in Crisp County, about two hours south of Atlanta and was no longer considered a missing person.
The Macon Telegraph newspaper reports Familia is being held on a $9,800 bond on nine charges that include fleeing/attempting to elude an officer as well as DUI and speeding. He was arrested by the Georgia State Patrol on March 21.
