The City of Manhattan will begin a pair of summer infrastructure projects that will cause some traffic disruptions near Grand Mere Village and Anthony Middle School.
Starting Monday, Bayer Construction will begin replacing the roundabout at Grand Mere Parkway and Kimball Avenue/Scenic Drive. The intersection will be completely closed to traffic through the first phase of construction, with construction of a temporary fly-through route. The phase is expected to last through early August. Detours are noted by way of Anderson Ave. and Hudson Drive as well as Vanesta and Colbert Hills Drives. The remainder of the project will continue through the end of the year.
The City says Browning Ave. directly in front of Anthony Middle School, will close Monday for replacement of concrete pavement on the roadway surface, as well as the installation of new curb and gutters. The road will be fully closed for about three months to traffic between Sargent Lane and Stone Valley Drive. Local detours will be in place for nearby residential neighborhoods. Access to Anthony Recreation Center will be from the south, over gravel surfacing. Access to the rest of Anthony Middle School will be from the recreation center parking lot or from the north parking lot, off Pecanwood Drive.
Street pavement and storm sewer replacement along College Heights Road from Denison to Sunset Ave. will also begin Monday, which will cut off through traffic through that area for approximately 13 weeks.
