Susan Adamchak entered the race for the Manhattan City Commission last Friday and is among several now vying for one of four vacant seats this November.
Adamchak is a long-time resident of Manhattan and a retired sociologist and independent businesswoman. Her experience includes working with several government agencies and international organizations, and says she has worked to influence policy, developed innovative programs and managed projects with million dollar budgets.
In an emailed statement to KMAN, Adamchak says she has an appreciation for the community, the volunteers and the organizations that help it flourish, but also notes there are still many gaps where improvements can be made.
Adamchak currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Manhattan Area Resettlement Team and serves on the Manhattan Public Library Foundation Board, the Manhattan Arts Center Gallery Committee and serves meals with Common Table.
