Two arrested in connection to infant’s death

Two people are in custody in relation to a murder investigation involving 1-year-old Ziya Miller.

The Riley County Police Department says the child’s parents, 24-year-old Matthew Miller, of Junction City, and 26-year-old Sonya Williams, of Ogden, were arrested Thursday and have been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child endangerment. Miller is additionally charged with one count of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

According to RCPD, the Junction City Police Department responded to a call in April 2023 for a child not breathing. It was later determined the child died in Manhattan but was transported to Junction City by Miller. Both parents are charged, given the circumstances surrounding the death.

Miller is being held on a $1,250,000 bond. Williams is jailed on a $1.1 million bond.

The mother in the case also had a 2-year-old child, Cyrus, who died in December 2020. Her former boyfriend Gage Anderson was arrested and later convicted of second-degree murder after accepting a plea agreement with prosecutors in March 2023.

No further details are being released at this time. Police said additional information may be divulged by the Riley County Attorney’s Office.
