    Thursday Regional Roundup: Rock Creek girls track wins team title

    Baseball

    At the 6A regional in Maize, Manhattan’s season fell one with shorts of a state tournament birth. The 5-seed Indians beat Garden City in the semifinals 4-3, but would fall in the championship game to Maize 4-1. Manhattan ends its season with a record 17-7.

    Softball

    Riley County’s season ended Thursday in the semifinals of its 3A regional in Senaca. The Falcons lost by a 3-0 final to Marysville. Riley County’s season ended with a record of 7-15.

    Girls Soccer

    The Manhattan Indians traveled all the way out to Garden City for a 6A regional championship match. Unfortunately, the Indians would lose in heartbreaking fashion 3-2 in overtime. Their season ends with a record of 11-6-1.

    Track and Field

    Rock Creek and Wamego both competed at the 4A regional in Chapman Thursday. For the girls, Rock Creek finished in 1st place as a team and Wamego came in 3rd. Its Rock Creek’s first regional title in 33 years. Wamego and Rock Creek boys finished in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Rock Creek’s highest finish in 31 years.

    At the 1A regional in Washington, the Frankfort boys finished in 2nd place out of 20 teams. The Blue Valley boys came in 6th. On the girls side, Frankfort finished in 5th and Blue Valley was 10th.

    We did not receive team results for Riley County at St. Marys.

    Each school had multiple athletes qualify for state. Next week, KMAN will have live coverage from state in Wichita.
