Manhattan man arrested for attempted murder in late-night stabbing

The Riley County Police Department announced Wednesday afternoon that it has arrested a local man for attempted murder and aggravated battery.

The RCPD put out a press release around 1:30 p.m. to announce that 53-year-old Marcus Washington was arrested for attempted murder and aggravated battery in connection with Tuesday night’s stabbing.

On Tuesday, RCPD officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 400 block of Walters Dr. in Manhattan at around 10:45 PM. A 39-year-old man was listed as the victim when Washington stabbed the victim with a knife. The victim is being treated for his injuries and is reported to be in stable condition.

Washington was issued a total bond of $250,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Additionally, 41-year-old Alvin Love and 26-year-old Nichole Cochrun, of Manhattan, were arrested for interference with law enforcement and obstructing apprehension of prosecution. Both individuals were issued a total bond of $10,000 and remain confined at the Riley County Jail.
