A Manhattan man who was arrested last January is set to be sentenced in court on Tuesday for aggravated robbery. 26-year-old Brandon Welty was arrested back on Jan. 30 for a charge of aggravated robbery after he robbed a man at gunpoint in Manhattan and stole his backpack. Welty was accompanied in the crime by 19-year-old Joseph Bauer Jr. who will have a jury trial on the matter set for this November. They swam, they pedaled, they ran to the finish. The 12th annual Just Tri It triathlon this year was a kids-only event. It took place Saturday in Manhattan’s City Park. Tracy Anderson, a local architect, is the creator of the event. He said Saturday was a perfect day for the event because the weather was not too hot. Participants were ages 5 to 14, according to the website. “The kids start off in the pool, then they dry off, get their bikes and travel around the park and then run around the park to wrap up the day.” This year’s event…

Riley County Police filed a report for motor vehicle theft on Sunday. Officers filed the report at approximately 12 p.m. in the 700 block of Allison Avenue listing four people as the victims in this case. Among the items reportedly stolen inside of a 2016 black Nissan Altima were an iPad, AirPods, and military gear and tools worth approximately $3,500. Total loss from this theft is $11,000. A Chicago man was arrested on Sunday morning for fighting in the 1100 block of Moro Street in Aggieville. 31-year-old Tyrone Davis Jr. is charged with one count of disorderly conduct by either brawling or fighting, one count of battery on a law enforcement officer by making physical contact with a county or city officer on duty and one count of interference with a law enforcement officer by obstructing, resisting, or opposing the execution of a misdemeanor search warrant. Habitat for Humanity for the Northern Flint Hills announced earlier this week that they have partnered with 3Rivers to support aging homeowners in Riley and Pottawatomie Counties through the Habitat for Humanity Aging in Place Program. Executive director Josh Brewer expressed excitement over the partnership in a discussion with KMAN earlier this week. “We’ve had a lack of funding in our CBDG program,” he said. “We also are seeing a pause in this program with our 60 to 80 percent category at the same time. A Denver man who had been previously arrested this week is back behind bars following his arrest for aggravated assault. Lingle, who had already been arrested on Thursday morning for making threats towards an individual, was arrested again by RCPD on Friday afternoon just after 2 p.m. in the 600 block of S. Delaware Avenue. Lingle has been charged with one count of aggravated assault with the use of a deadly weapon. Lingle reportedly threatened a 42-year-old male with a hammer. The director of the local Habitat for Humanity organization is frustrated by the city’s handling of a funding change that led to the pause of a home repair program. Habitat for Humanity of the Northern Flint Hills announced this week that it is pausing its Home Repair program in Manhattan. The home repair program helps low-income “workforce” households pay for needed improvements. Riley County Police arrested a Colorado man for making threats on Thursday. The arrest occurred just after 9:30 a.m. in the 600 block of South Delaware Avenue after a 42-year-old man reported 40-year-old David Lingle of Denver, Colorado for making multiple threats to him. Officers later arrested Lingle on the aforementioned charges. He was booked into Riley County Jail and later released on a bond of $15,000.
